But, if you want to incorporate more natural skincare ingredients into your routine, here are some of our favorite DIY recipes you can create from your pantry and spice cabinet!

4 Simple Beauty Recipes with Natural Skincare Ingredients You Can Make in 10 minutes or Less

Soothing Aloe & Honey Face Mask

Honey and aloe both have natural healing properties to soothe and treat stressed skin. We usually use aloe to soothe sunburns or heal cuts, and the gel inside the leaves is cooling and rich in antioxidants to keep skin healthy and calm. Honey also acts as a gentle natural exfoliant, so this duo is great for the harsh winter months.

This DIY face mask is as easy as it sounds. You can either purchase pure aloe gel, aloe very leaf (large), or use your own plant. Spoon the gel (scoop from inside the leaf first) into a small jar, and add in about 2 teaspoons of honey. Mix and apply to face for about 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water or wipe off with washcloth. Don't forget to moisturize after!

You can also try these skin-loving add-ins in your aloe & honey face mask:

  • Turmeric to reduce excess oil.
  • Nutmeg for exfoliation.
  • Ginger for even skin tone.
  • Black pepper to reduce find lines.
  • Cinnamon to reduce inflammation and for acne-prone skin.

Calming Chamomile Toner

Chamomile is a natural skin brightener and can help with the overall appearance of your skin to boost your healthy glow and reduce the size of pores.

To make this toner, simply boil and steep 1 bag of chamomile tea in a cup of water. After steeping (about 10 minutes), strain and cool. Pour the mixture into a glass with a lid, add a good squeeze of honey and about 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.

If you don’t like the smell of vinegar, you could swap it out with witch hazel and add aloe vera gel. After cleansing, apply the toner to your face with a cotton ball. Follow it up with Mumu Bath’s Repair & Deep Hydration Face Serum.

Peppermint Green Tea Sugar Scrub

Peppermint is cooling and refreshing and delivers antibacterial benefits to rid your skin of harmful bacteria that can clog pores. It can also help wake you up to get you ready for the day. Meanwhile, green tea soothes minor skin irritations and reduces inflammation. Refresh your senses and smooth your skin with a gentle and invigorating peppermint green tea sugar scrub.

Mix a couple tablespoons of organic green tea powder with 1-2 drops of peppermint essential oil (possibly a little more if you’re using peppermint baking oil since it’s less concentrated). You can adjust the peppermint oil to your preference. Mix well into ¼-1/3 cup of blended coconut oil (regular coconut oil may be too solid, and fractionated is a bit too thin). Gentle stir the mixture into 2 cups of sugar.

Gently massage the sugar scrub onto moist or damp skin. Avoid the eye area because peppermint oil will burn! We find that this works best as a body scrub than a facial scrub. For the face, you could swap peppermint oil with lavender and sugar for nutmeg for a gentler scrub.

Too messy? Try our natural Agave Exfoliating Soap Saver Pouch for convenient on-the-go exfoliation.

Yogurt Basil Cleansing Mask

Did you run out of your Signature Hydrating Facial Bar? Don't worry--we'll send more ASAP! In a pinch, you can create an effective cleansing mask out of your favorite Italian spice and creamy yogurt.

To create a luxurious mask, add a large bunch of clean basil leaves and a bit of water in a blender. Strain basil “juice” into a shallow wide-mouth jar. Mix basil juice and plain yogurt (regular or Greek) in a 2:3 ratio (basil : yogurt). We recommend making small single batches because this recipe does not keep well. Spread over your face to create a mask. Let dry, and rinse with warm water. Apply moisturizer after.

Best Jars for DIY Skincare Recipes

For larger batches of recipes that keep well (for about a month), these wide-mouth half-pint glass Mason jars (8-oz) work really well (Amazon).

For single batches or small batches, go a little smaller with these cute 3-oz hexagon glass jars (these work well for gifts and party favors!) (Amazon).
